Abstract |
Background. The relevance of the search of treatment options for diabetes mellitus is not in doubt due to the fact that, despite the active development of methods for treating this ailment (and the huge financial investments directed to this healthcare industry), the majority of patients seeking medical help, unfortunately, already have complications in the organs targeted by diabetes. The timely appointment of insulin replacement therapy and oral hypoglycemic agents often improves the quality of life of patients, but does not significantly reduce the percentage of complications and does not increase the life expectancy of patients. Given the above, it is necessary to continue the search for new drugs that can affect the pathogenesis of metabolic disorders in diabetes mellitus, and therefore reduce the frequency of complications, reduce treatment costs and try to increase the patients' life span |
